This year has gone so fast!! It seems as tho Rhett just came home from his mission in Italy and now the year has gone and Rhett is ENGAGED!!!
This last year as bought many blessings in many ways!
My mother's cancer journey as brought many blessings. My health problems have brought blessings and much faith. And for this I could not be more grateful. I feel like to endure quietly brings a personal understanding of what the Lord needs from me. I feel like I have grown in many ways. The women I have met and seen through addictions and unplanned pregnancies, will forever have a special bond with. I truly can't bellevue the Lord trust me with these special daughters of his, for the last TEN years! These women continue to teach me each day! It truly is a 24/7 calling and I can say there are days where I feel like I am not sure I can continue....but each time I bring this concern to my Stake President...He confirms to me this is where the Lord needs you. We are going on 3 years in the Young Single Adult ward and this too is 24/7 but, we feel so blessed to serve with these Warriors of our Heavenly Father!
Prayers have been answered in our family this year concerning our children!
After MUCH praying and fasting for Joe over the last seven years....Joe was hired by Rural Metro Fire!! He is now a Fire Fighter/ EMT!!! I have never witness such hard work and determination from any of our children! We would have family prayer for dinner and when Joe and Erin's children were asked to pray, they would always pray that daddy would get hire by a fire department! I would always worry that maybe these kids would loose faith if Joe never was hired. I now see I just need to have the faith of Joe and Erin's children.
We ALWAYS pray for child and there spouses by name but sometimes you pray a little more for certain things.
Another prayer was for Walker. As he was excepted into the Police Academy last summer after working in Corrections for the state the last four years....He now has two offers in two different police departments! Both departments were ones he really wanted. Walker is the second highest in his academy! (proud mom)
Raising sons....I always thought I could NEVER have a son work as a public servant in protecting everyones well being! I use to think....I wonder if the parents of that man or women who is a police officer or fire fighter just WORRY and hate that their child has chose this line of work! I knew that would be something I could never support my children in that chose! NOW here we are! The Lord letting me know..Yes you can! When I think about Joe and Walker...My thought is, these two boys have been such honorable hard working, serving, obedient young men....OF COURSE this is what they would choose for their line of work! They both have chosen jobs to serve and protect people! Not only have they chose this but they have WORKED so hard to obtain these jobs! Joe and Walker have worked so hard physically, spiritually in every way to prepare to be hire and to do their best!! Tom and I as their parents could not be more proud!
I wish I could look back on this year and say it was perfectly happy and healthy. But after two different surgeries for me and looking forward to another...Seeing my mom not being able to finish her chemotherapy and having to have several blood transfusions... in and out of the hospital and some other difficult situations in our family....
I can say....we are so very grateful for ever good and happy minute we did have and I am grateful for the not so good minute that I had too! I learned more from the not so great times than the great! I have always known this to be true, but as a mortal person in those hard times sometimes it is hard to see the growth! It is hard to let your kids grow as well! SOme have grown more than others this year but this life is just to learn! Some say tested but I say learn!!
I can't close this year without say how thankful I am for each grandchild we have! When they all are together I will admit that is is not always fun! It can be SUPER hectic. Each one is special and each one is different! Some are closer it seems to Tom and some are closer to me it seems! What I do know we love each one more than words can say!!!
