Thankfulness and Foley Catheters???

What are you thankful for? [CONTEST] | Connect2Mason | http://www.connect2mason.com/content/what-are...

I was listening to a young man today in church talking about things he was thankful for and I could not help but to really think about his talk! The whole talk was fantastic! I do have to say I was not sure where he was going with his talk for a short time! Tom and I have learned so much from these young single adults!! BUT!!!!
When he first started his talk....He was telling us of things that had happened in his family from a medical stand point that sounded very sad!!!. There were other things as well that I kept thinking how will he tie all this in on the subject of thankfulness!
By the end of his talk you could of heard a pin drop and I am sure you might be thinking well...YSA Wards are very quiet but let me make this clear...They can be very "chatty" at times!! I will not try and explain all of Wes's talk but I will share some things his mom sent him that she was thankful for and made him think, and all of us think too!
I Am Thankful For....
....the mess to clean up after a party because, it means I have been surrounded by friends!
....the taxes I pay because, It means I am employed!
....the clothes that fit a little to tight because, it means I have enough to eat!
....my shadow who watches me work because, it means I am out in the sunshine!
....the spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because, it means I am capable of walking!
....all the complaining I hear about our government because, it means I have freedom of speech!
....my huge heating  bill because, it means I am warm!
....the lady behind me in church who sings of key because, it means I can hear!!
...the alarm that goes off early in the morning hours because, it means that I am alive!
....the piles of laundry and ironing because, it means that my love ones are nearby!
....weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because, it means I have been productive!
So back to Wes's talk I will share one of the first things he shared in the first few minutes of his talk, that I was not quite sure why he was talking about this from the pulpit! He talked of many things that was stressing him out! One of the many was, his dad had just had prostate surgery and he had really been worried about him! Wes had said his dad had to come home from the hospital with a foley catheter and since Wes is almost a PA....His dad called him explaining to him that he was struggling trying to remove the catheter as he was instructed! This made Wes feel even more sad that he was not close to home to go and help him!! As the story went on Wes told his dad to just go to the E.R. and they would do it for him!  But he went on to explain how thankful that his dad was home, no more cancer, and he is ALIVE! Wes said after thinking about his week and all that happened he was so thankful for each thing that happened because it meant EVERYONE was still ALIVE!!!
Who would of thought Wes would of tied in a Foley Catheter to Thankfulness!!!
I too have thought of trials lately and I just love when I get to the point in a trial where I can say....I am so Thankful! Sometimes it takes me a long, long, long time to be thankful! I will say some trials I have had... I am yet to be thankful for!! I hate when Tom says to me "we need to grow and learn"!!! I often tell Tom...I would rather be "short and dumb"! He hates it when I say that but, I hate it when he reminds me! It goes both way for us! But the one HUGE thing I am thankful for is an honorable wonderful husband that I LOVE very much!!
