State Wrestling And Now On To Team State!

State Wrestling!! WOW!!! It is over! Yay!!! It is just to intense!
I can say that it was great to have Tom off work for w few days! And the brisk cool weather of Prescott AZ was wonderful! There were still patches of snow on the ground but the sky was clear and we could not of asked for better weather! Very cool, but fun for a change
We had a great hotel, and it was a good thing I booked the room way in advance because, there was not an empty room in all of Prescott!
Tom and I had such fun together! We went up a day early (Wednesday) and enjoyed the time we were able to be alone together! After we checked in we just relaxed and then Tom went to work out and sit in the hot tub and take a swim in the heated pool! That was a treat for him! We had a nice dinner that night and then came back to the hotel with no phones, no work problems, no doorbells, and.... NO KIDS!!!!
Walker and Eric came up Thursday night to watch Rhett! That was fun having them there with us. That was the second time that Eric has ever seen snow! The first time was a few weekends ago he went up to the snow with the Young Men in our ward!
Tom always try to make things so special for me! When we got to our room on Thursday night there was a box with my name on it waiting for me! When I opened it up it was a dozen beautiful, huge, chocolate covered strawberries ! Yummy that's all I can say about that! Tom you are by far the BEST! I LOVE YOU!!
Back to wrestling! On Thursday we got up early and headed to the Tim's Toyota Center to watch our team wrestle! We had 11 boys make it to state! Rhett was the number 8 seed for state and he felt pretty good about his seed! Rhett's record was 29 and 9 for the season!
The boys on the team went to Parker's house (a boy on our team) the night before they left for state and when Rhett got home that night I could not believe my eyes! Parker's mom dyed and cut the boys hair! She gave all the boys mohawks and bleached all their hair! Then she dyed the mohawk part bright red! I was not pleased with the idea but at that point there was not much I could do about it, since it was eleven o'clock pm!
The team also went up the night before so they could get a few extra hours of sleep before they had to be at weigh inns! And thank goodness everyone made weight!!!
Rhett was just not on his "A" game for some reason or another but.... we were happy he was there and wrestling! Rhett won two and lost two matches and did not place at state.
Rhett was very disappointed that he did not metal but he is on to team state and hopes to do better there! Team state is this coming this weekend and then wrestling will be over for the season! He has never had the chance to wrestle at team state so, we will be excited to see if our team places as a school!
As a side note the Tempe Wrestler that gave Rhett fits all season was disqualified for BITING another wrestler so hard that the EMTs were called to the matt do to so much bleeding! He also bit a wrestler from AJ during a big tournament! We knew this kid was NUTS!!!
Also Rhett's good friend Heath Boers was wrestling for first and second and had a 40 and 1 record lost the championship match in over time! The score was 1 to1 and it went into over time and Heath lost 1 to 2! We all felt so bad over that match! Ivan took second also and we had five other boys metal! So all in all we had a good state final! We look forward to next weekend but.... I think Rhett is looking forward to next weekend even more then we are because that will mean the season is over and he will be on to the 4x4 in track and good old fashion weight lifting!
Rhett loves to lift weights! Ever since he has been a freshman he has taken "strength and conditioning" all four years of high school and then would lift after school during football, wrestling, and track season.
We will miss high school sports after Rhett graduates but I am sure we will continue to go watch and support our kids schools! We feel as parents that sports and student counsel, have played a positive role for all our kids as they went to school.
