God Is more Interested In Your Character Than Your Comfort!!

Thought for Today
Rick Warren , 'Purpose Driven Life '
"People ask me, What is the purpose of life? And I respond: In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were not made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven. One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body-- but not the end of me. I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity. We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense. Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one. The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort; God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy. We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness. This past year has been the greatest year of my life; but also the toughest in ways.
I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore. Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for. You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems: If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, which is my problem, my issues, my pain.' But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others. We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her. It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people. You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life.
We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity? Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes for my life? When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know you more and love you better. God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do. That's why we're called human beings, not human doings."

Tempe Arizona Mission!

Our VERY SWEET Stake Relief Society President, Karen Howard!
It was an honor to help with a luncheon today as we served 130 missionaries from the Tempe AZ Mission. This was a once a year conference and training given by two General Authorities! They knew some of us were missionary moms and it was fun to share where our kids were serving!!
Can you tell I love being a missionary mom!!!
The "Girlie Team"!!
It was interesting to hear where they were from and where they were serving!! One Elder was from the Ukraine! One was from Malaysia!!!

I am so thankful for each of these missionaries!!
Love each one!!!!

Maui 2012!!

Tom won a contest through his job for the second year in a row! Hyundai took the top twenty five dealers in the western region to Maui!
It was called "Hot Summer Nights Hawaii"!
It was a fast trip. five days and four nights at a beautiful resort! We were happy to get away and relax!
Of course we were in awe with the beauty of the landscape AND our suite!!
First things first a picture of us taken out on our balcony!!
You can see we were pretty happy to be in Maui
The view toward the ocean from our balcony!
The view from the front of our suite!! The trees here in the middle had hundreds of bird that just sang! Very peaceful!
It is unusual to see Tom with his feet up! We pretty much had our feet up majority of the time!!!
Our suite was gorgeous!!! It was so big! I could have lived her forever!!
Tom is all about baths and this bath tub fit...... just right!!! We had his and hers closets even!!!
The first full day Tom golf on one of the most beautiful courses he has ever golfed !!
While Tom golfed, I relax out on a lounge area in the middle of the resort! The tropical smells, the sounds of nature, the breezes and this fantastic little "drinkie" were to die for!!
Yes Tom went to "Ruth Chris" steak house dresses like this to eat!! If you notice <------I am not in this picture because I looked worse and did not want my picture taken! But when in Hawaii just about anything goes for dress attire anywhere!! I have always said that the one main good reason I would want to live in Hawaii is because I could wear a "mu'umu'u" everyday of my life! Even to church! When we picked Joe up from his mission...We went to church with him and all the sisters had on beautiful "mu'umu'u" and slippers! (flip-flops) I am ALL about that attire!!! I pretty much wear "mu'umu'u and slippers everyday of my life in Gilbert AZ! Even in the pool to swim! <-----------Some of you might understand this comment!
Relaxing after golf and getting ready to go to the beach!! As I looked at Toms swim shoe....I was not sure if he was serious!! When I saw them I said-------------->WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE AND ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO WEAR THOSE!!!
He assured me he was and went on to explain how comfortable they are and how they kept him from getting blisters on his feet when he plays basketball in the pool with our boys and the sand does burn your keep at the beach!!
I told him I felt sure blisters and a few scrapes would be better that these funky ugly shoes!!
He wore them!!!!!!!
The next was a sweet exciting surprise! Melanie was not suppose to have her ultra sound until next week but do to some concerns the doctor told her to come and have the ultra sound this day!! As I was reading outside a text message come to me and it was from Walker! All it said was....I know what we are having!!! WHAT!!!! He said I will call you sometime tonight we are still at the doctors!!! HAHAHA!! NOT HAHAHA!! Get your happy **s on the phone now!!!  He called right a way and was so happy! He has been saying he really really wanted a boy but....He was already say to me....Mom she is perfect and healthy and she looks SO CUTE!!!! Some one is wrapped already!!
I can't wait to see this blonde, blue eyed, curly headed little angel girl!!
The next day we rented a car and drove over to Lahaina and did a little retail therapy! As always it was beautiful there! The mountains were breath taking on the drive!! We ate at a great little local eatery! We walked along the beach there and just enjoyed the day!!
I found a great little store to stock up on new mu'umu'us! Nice mu'umu'us not any I would swim in!! I was super excited to find the kind I like!!!
What about this HANDSOME, CUTE, LOVER BOY!!!!

As we drove back to the resort we stopped by a little farmers market! We bought some fresh cute pineapple and had some fresh coconut milk!!!! DELISH!!!!!!
The flowers at this market were so beautiful I could not describe them so I took some pictures! I have never seen flowers like this!!!!
This was the last night we were there! They took our whole group to the Four Season Resort and we ate at "Spagos"! I have to say the appetizers were great but the food....was ok!! But the beauty of how it all was presented and looking out at the oceans and the company we shared with the group was FANTASTIC!!!
Oh and I almost forget to tell you this! The first night all the wives received a gift from this place! The head Hyundia people said that they knew our husbands put in a lot of time and work and they really appreciated our support so.... they wanted to give us a little Thank You! All  the wives were given a bracelet the first night and then the last night they put a picture they had taken the first night, into a Tiffany picture frame...and it was waiting in our rooms when we came home from Spagos!
I have to say it was a quick trip but well worth it!! We had a great time! Any time Tom gets to golf twice in one week and dive into the ocean and EAT all day....I would say it could not of been any better!!
