A Forever Changing Day For Elder Scheurn!

One Proud Happy Pops (dad)

Notice how BLUE the sky is!!!

Jami and Myles, we love you!
We went to eat at the Macaroni Grill after the Temple!

Let me first apologize for all the pictures but I just had to!

This has been a day to remember FOREVER!!
Today Elder Nolan Rhett Scheurn, my baby, went to the House of the Lord! Yes today Rhett took out his endowments in the Mesa Arizona Temple!! It was the 5:30 session and it was quite full! There were two other Elders that were preparing to leave on their missions as well! They were going to Japan!
It has been a cool crisp day and... For some reason this day seemed to be clearer than I have ever seen! I felt like I was standing on top of the Superstition Mountain Range as Tom, Rhett and I drove to the Temple! The sky seemed to be a deeper shade of blue than I have ever seen! This day was definitely different than any day I have had for a long time! There was a still peace through out the day as I fasted for Rhett knowing this day would be a forever changing day for him! I feel sure it was! I know he will keep this day in his heart for ever!!
As I think about people that have helped Rhett prepare to go to the Lord's House.... The first person that comes to my mind is Rhett's dad! Tom has helped molded Rhett into the young man he is! If you know Rhett, he can be strong and intense and.... strong willed at time whether it was in sports, chores or getting up for some of his early morning meetings! But it has been Tom that has either patiently persuaded him or sometime used some loving harder encouragement in helping him understand what would be the best choice to help Rhett grow in many areas of his life! Tom has been a GREAT example of hard work and has also showed and shared with Rhett the love he has for his Savior and Heavenly Father! I think back on all the mornings I would witness Tom and Rhett on bended knees praying before Rhett left for school. I know Rhett will never forget those tender moment he shared with his dad! For this I want Tom to know how much I love him and thank him for being such wonderful father and example!!
Dennis Ray who has played a big role in helping Rhett to prepare for his mission was there with LuAnn his wife to support Rhett at the Temple. I also want to thank Dennis especially for the love and time he has given Rhett! Rhett has always felt the unconditional love Dennis has given him for several years! Dennis you have been the best advisor Rhett has ever had! Again I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Ruth Embelton a friend of mine from my ward came to support Rhett as well! Ruth has been a great cheer leader for Rhett as well as for me! When I saw her in the Temple she seemed to calm me even more! Thanks Ruth for the love and support you give me!
Jami and Myles were there and Walker, Joe, Erin, and Tanya were all there to support and to show their love for Rhett! It was a tender moment to watch Joe and Walker put their arms around their little brother and give Rhett words of love and encouragement! I know Rhett has had many conversations with Joe and Walker as he has prepared for his mission! I am thankful Rhett can go to them and ask any questions he has about his mission! I know all of Rhetts bothers are so proud of him as well!
Posey is living in GA but Rhett has said he has had many words of love and encouragement from her as well! I know she would of been in the Temple with Rhett had she been here!
As I watched Tom with Rhett as we were leaving for the Temple and while in the Temple.... Tom should of just wrote PROUD across his forehead as he sat with Rhett! As we were taking pictures before we left for the Temple Tom could not help him self but to just wrap both of his arms around Rhett and just squeeze him!!
Since Tom and Rhett had to be to the Temple earlier than I.... We parked the car and I walked them both up to the front of the Temple to take more pictures... and then I kissed Rhett and told him how much I loved him and how happy I was that he had mad the choice to keep him self worthy to enter the House of The Lord!
I then went across the street to the Distribution Center and bought a few thing! I was so happy to be there on Tuesday because for the last three years.... there is a family who bakes fresh Swiss bread and banana bread and every Tuesday.... and they are there to sell their breads!! So of course I bought a loaf of each!! I went back to the Temple and as I walked in I saw Rhett and Tom standing there in the foyer and.... I can only tell you.... I felt sure their wasn't a more handsome young missionary in this whole world as Rhett stood next to his dad! Tom again was so proud... I could just see his face beam!! Tom's smile was from "Ear to Ear"!
It is hard for me to express my feelings of gratitude to my Heavenly Father for all of my children! Even though life has ups and downs... I am so thankful for each child we have! Each are different and each special in their own ways! I also have a hard time expressing my gratitude for a husband and a Father to my kids who is the very best example with his Christ like attributes!
This day indeed was a life changing day for Rhett and for me! It was a crowning blessing for me.... to see Rhett with in the walls of the Temple! I could not be more thankful, happy, blessed, and proud on this thirtieth day of November 2010! Rhett I am so thankful for you and for the desire you have to serve your Heavenly Father for the next two years in the Italy Milan mission!
I love you my precious son and missionary!
You have for sure now been called in many ways! Again I love you and I will miss you more than you know!!
Chow!!!

"Gager-Boy"!!!

Gager-Boy is TWO!!!

This is one of my favorite pictures of Gager-Boy, He was about 14 months old!
Today is Gage's birthday! He is two years old!
I can't believe that he is already two! I remember going with Tanya to her three D. ultra-sound to see if Blake's and Tanya's last baby would "even" the brood or if this baby would "odd" the brood! Lucy and Ellie were with us as well and they were excited to see as too!!
We find out right away that Tanya ways having a boy so now things are even in the house! Blake and Tanya have two boys and two girls!
Gage... where do I start with you....
First he has always been so big for his age, like Blake was! Gager-Boy has the cutest smile! He looks like he has a"Joker" smile where the end of his lips turn up when he smiles and laughs!
Gage can be so sweet BUT... If you get him mad or you tell him something he does not want to hear he will let you know!
Gage has BIG blue eyes that seem to sparkle when I look at him! Sometimes he is a little actor! He does like to think he is so funny! AND he is!
One of Gager-Boy's worst habit is climbing on anything and everything! He has to have the hardest head of any kid I have seen! He has fallen off just about everything in my house and his house! Including the kitchen table, his bed, his parents bed, and the list goes on! I feel sure if you leave him for one second he will be on your kitchen table or...Possible on the roof of your house!
He has no Fear of anything!
Last night as we celebrated Walker's and Gage's birthday we had grilled some hamburgers on the grill! As I was cutting some lettuce up in front of my sink... I looked up just in time to see Gager-Boy climbing up onto the high bar stools!!! I quickly told him to get down and he just looked at me like "What are you going to do about it"!! So I walked around and took him down and told him if he got back up on the stools Pops was going to spank him!! About twenty minutes went by and I look and sure enough Gager-Boy was back up on the bar stools! So I called Pops over and told Pops Gager-Boy needed a spanking! So as Pops promptly came to get him ...Gage-Boy gave Pops his "joker smile" and Pops said how do you spank him! I feel sure that cute face has kept him from many spankings!
I think Pops has find his little cowboy to ride with! Gager-Boy LOVES to ride the horse! He has no fear at all when it comes to the horses! He would ride all day long if you let him! Gage will cry forever when his turn is up on the horse! Gage is definitely our little cowboy! Or should I say our "big cowboy"! I think Pops needs to find a pony for ALL the grand kids! I am just not sure though if Gager-Boy will want to share! BUT... I sure he will!
Gager-Boy Pops and Grammie LOVE you so much! We are so thankful for this "Little /Big" boy!!! Never loose that PRECIOUS smile.... with that smile you will always continue to make ALL of us smile!!!
Gager-Boy, you will always be our "Little/Big" cowboy!
Happy Birthday Gager-Boy.... Grammie LOVES you!!!

"Thomas Walker Scheurn"!!!!

November 28, 1986 was a day I will never forget!
This day seemed like it was yesterday!Tom and I went with the kids to my mom's house for Thanksgiving and had a great dinner! Since I have C-Sections I knew what day I would have Walker! My mom kept the kids for the night and Tom and I went home and sleep as well as anyone can sleep when you are full term!!
The next day Tom and I went to the hospital. As always Tom had flowers waiting in the hospital room when I arrived!! The nurses got me ready and my mom came down to the hospital as well! Before I knew it my mom was in scrubs as well as Tom was too! My doctor said it would be okay for my mom to come in the operating room with Tom!
I remember when the doctor delivered Walker he was a big baby and as the doctor was trying to pass him over to the nurses Walker grabbed on to the gown of the doctor and would not let go! Walker was strong from the minute he was born!
Do to some complications I was unable to hold Walker for the first day or two but once I got him home I could not put him down!
Walker was so different from my other kids! He has always had the curliest blonde hair and he had beautiful blue eyes! Even though Walker was always a big HUSKY baby and Husky little boy... He still always had such an angelic face! I will say that Walker was my only unplanned pregnancy and I was not to happy when I find out I was pregnant but.... I will tell you the Lord knew exactly what I needed in my life at this time and... It was Thomas Walker Scheurn!!
All my kids have said Walker is our "Golden Child" and I only say this because....Tonight when we were having birthday dinner for Walker this was part of the conversation! I think all my kids have been the "Golden Child" at some point in each of their lives!
I do have to say that Walker has always been a peace maker! He has always tried to be very obedient and is such a hard worker! He is so polite, sincere and caring! I still have people call me from Walker's mission! Walker worked so hard on his mission and I feel sure EVERYONE he spoke to could feel the love he had for his Heavenly Father and to who ever he was talking to!
I love his testimony and the spirit that abides with him! Walker is a solid honest son! Tom and I have never worried about Walker and his salvation! He know where he is going and he knows how to get there!
Tom and I are so THANKFUL for Walker! He has been a great example to Rhett and to many others! He is tender hearted and sweet! Walker has a great love for his niece and nephews! Walker is also so witty and funny, I love his since of humor! I cherish the time that I am with him!
I often thought how can such a sweet tender boy be such a great football player and wrestler. He has always love sports! He has always given his all whether it was sports or work!
I remember prior to going on his mission and in the summers he worked at President LeSueur hay barn! Walker would load hay all day long in 115 degree weather! I would worry about him out in the sun all day lifting big bales of hay! I would talk to him about maybe finding a different job but he loved the hard work and he said it kept him in shape!
On this day I just want to tell Walker how very much I love him and how very proud I am of him! I love to be known as Walker's mom! I am Eternally thankful to my Heavenly Father for sending me the cream of the crop! It has been a joy for Tom and I to raise Walker!
Walker again I LOVE YOU and I am so THANKFUL for you!
Happy Birthday!

The girl cousins!

Most of the boy cousins

Madison Kip's daughter and my brother David!

Stacy's daughter Natalie!

What a GREAT Thanksgiving!!
Years ago, I use to always have Thanksgiving at my house because we always seemed to have a bigger home and I had the most kids so... We always had it at our house! Now Nena and Jami have just as big of a house BUT.... How do I still have more kids..... Oh yes now I have ten grand kids to add to the list!!
Since Rhett will be leaving on his mission in less than three weeks :-( I wanted this Thanksgiving to be extra special.... So I decided to have Thanksgiving at our house this year!
My brothers, sisters, parents and friends all came! I was sad that my oldest sister Kim was unable to attend and Posey was unable to come as well! I truly missed Posey and her family, it would of been great if her and her family would of been here with us! Even our foreign exchange student from when I was growing up came! Her name is Svetlana and we all are still very close to her forty years later! She is battling cancer and it was great to see her! We had about fifty people come for dinner!
I have to say how proud I am of Posey! She made a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner for her family and extended family! Posey made everything! I have to say she is now women because she even took the neck and all the other things that come inside a turkey out! I have tried for years to get her to do this but... Never could talk her into it! I guess that is what happens when your mom does not live close! After seeing pictures of Posey's table set beautifully and the food looked wonderful.... I do know she is now matured into an amazing wonderful women! So Proud!!!
Rhett loves being with his family but he is also so very close to his cousins so it was great to have almost all of them at Thanksgiving! We ate around 2:30 and I think the last of everyone left around 7:30pm!
We set up six tables outside and the weather could not of been better!!! Tom saddled up one of his horse and just kept her saddled most of the day so anyone could ride her when ever they wanted! All the boys also went to the church and played basketball!
I have to say how thankful I am for my family! I am thankful to know it is a ETERNAL family! I am thankful Rhett had this chance to be with everyone before he leaves on the Lord's errand!!
This was a perfect Thanksgiving! We had so much fun being with each other!
The only thing that would of made this day better is if.... Kim and Posey and her family and the cousin that were missing would of been there!
All in all I am thankful for such a beautiful day! I have been SO blessed in so many ways it is hard to express my gratitude! But I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father for ALL of my blessings not just on Thanksgiving but everyday 27/7!!

Our Brazillian Son!

These are pictures Posey took of Eric when she was here!

These are two pictures from when Eric visited Rio De Janeiro! He sent these in his last eamail!
He lives about four hours away from Rio! I LOVE to receive emails from Eric our exchange student! When I open my Emails and I see I have a note from Eric I smile right away! You never know what he is going to say OR... How he will say it OR... how he will spell it!!!
I receive emails quite often from Eric and they are always so LOVING and FUNNY!!!
It is so funny how he names each person in the family and says what he thinks they are doing at the moment he writes me!! He always sends pictures as well!
He told me in this last letter that he went to the Mormon church but it was not the same because Rhett was not up front (blessing the sacrament) and he named some of his other favorite families that were not there as well! We are just so happy he has gone to church!
He said in his email that he knew Tom was out at the horses, Walker and Rhett were wrestling on the living room floor and Joe and Erin were playing softball!
A few Emails back Eric told me he called all of his family together to pray with him like Tom prayed with Eric and our family! Eric also told me that when he prays now he prays for his Brazilian family in his language and he prays for his American family in English !
We love Eric SO MUCH and we MISS him So Much as well!! He has said he is doing all he can to return to the U.S.! We will look forward to that time!
Eric we LOVE YOU with all of our hearts and can't wait to see you!!
You are a TRILLION percent!!!
Love your American Mom!

"The Three Amigos"

The Cheese Cake pictures! For some reason it always ends up this way! It must be a Wretling Thing!!!!!
Walker, Taylor and Mark! Three years ago!

The Real Cowboy! Tom Scheurn!!!!

It is the time in the year that the Gilbert Rodeo is in town!!!
A few of my kids love to go but for some reason they think they need to dress in cowboy attire for the rodeo!
We all know the difference between a real "COWBOY"... Like Tom Scheurn and Walker, Rhett and their friends!!!
But why do Walker, Rhett and there friends, think they need to dress up like a cowboy to go to the rodeo?? Just because my boys ride horses does not mean they are "Real Cowboys"! I am sure they will disagree with this! And why do they all have to go into Tom's closet???
So Rhett went to his dads closet last night and borrowed a few things to wear to the rodeo! I did not see Rhett and his friends when they left but.... Did get to see them when they came home!
I laughed all night just seeing them!
Here is the problem though...
They thought they looked like cowboys but I think they looked more like the
"Three Amigos"!!!
Funny thing these boys have been best "Amigos" for a long time! They all have wrestled together and have been the best of Amigos"!
I am happy they had such a great time but.... I told them when they go back tonight for the rodeo.... They should for-go their cowboy attire because....
Rhett, Heath and Ivan looked more like the "Three Amigos" more than a cowboy!
They need to leave the "Real Cowboying " to Tom Scheurn!!!
"RIGHT"!!!

Love To See The Temple!

Gilbert Arizona Temple ! November 13, 2010
General Authorities
The Gilbert Arizona Temple!
November 13, 2010.... Was the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Gilbert AZ temple!
Tom had such a big job to do in making sure over five thousand chairs were there! Tom had to have a map of how the chairs would flow. Tom also was in charge of getting the Ushers in place!
Tom was at the grounds by 6:45am to start getting things set up! I feel sure Tom did not sleep much the night before worrying about this day!!
After making sure everything was in place he hurried home and showered and got his suit on to head back to help usher people to their chairs and to reassure things went smoothly for those who were speaking!
Elder Claudio R.M. Costa from the Presidency of the Seventy presided and conducted the groundbreaking ceremony! President / Elder David E.LeSueur who coordinated the ground breaking said the opening prayer!!!
The President from the Mesa Temple and his wife spoke as well! The songs that were sung were...The Spirit of God, How Firm A Foundation and was closed with Now Let Us Rejoice. Sister Ann Barney said the closing prayer! Some of my favorite hymns!
After it was over, Tom make sure the chairs were taken down and stop by home and grabbed a quick bite to eat and then headed to the church for leadership meetings presented by our Prophet President Thomas Spencer Monson!
Tom said his leadership meeting was great as always... and was thankful for how smooth the whole day went as well.... With thanks to his Heavenly Father for all the help he had that day!!!

Why Do We Have Wisdom Teeth?
Why do they call them "Wisdom Teeth"
Why did God give them to us if they need to be extracted?

Trying to get to the car!! No easy task!!!
Finally over !!!!This is not how you want to see your Baby!!!
Rhett had to have his wisdom teeth extracted on Thursday morning! (November 11th) Dr. Brinks Austin was the doctor that extracted them! Since I am a friend he said it would be okay for me to stay in the room during surgery! I did not take any pictures during surgery, even though Rhett wanted me to, I did snap a few after the procedure was over!
Rhett had all of his dental things checked off by our dentist several months ago. Dr. Caffall told us he would let the wisdom teeth stay if Rhett served in the states BUT... if he went out of the states, the wisdom teeth should be extracted! So this is why we are just now getting his teeth extracted!! I feel sure it is worth it to him now!
Rhett was some what anxious prior to surgery but did really well except for the few minutes that Rhett had to be bagged to help him breath!! That made me a little worried for a few minutes!!
But all in all he was a champ and did very well! Two of the teeth were impacted and two were up. So Rhett's case was not to hard!
Rhett has not complained once in the past few days and has been a champ! I know he is just so happy to have it over with! The fear was MUCH worst than any pain!!
I do have to say... on the way home I almost crashed my car trying to get Rhett to stop waving at all the cars at the lights or that were passing us by!!! He had all this gauze hanging out of his mouth and he kept waving at everyone saying "That is my Friend" and then he would give some random name!! He looked like a crazy person in my car!!
Every time we would go around a corner he would say..."WHOA slow down"!
He was also directing traffic while I was driving! At one point a city bus got close to our car and Rhett said "Whoa... I don't like that bus... it scare me"!
Rhett saw a girl jogging on the side of the road and he was waving with ALL his might and he kept telling me "That's Posey!!!
I do have to say I have never heard Rhett tell me " Mom,I Love You" so many times in a two hour span!!!
He was so funny!
I am just thankful we are done and over the wisdom teeth part of the mission and I am sure Rhett is as well!
Rhett you were a CHAMP and you were HILARIOUS!!!
I LOVE YOU TOO!!!!
